USING PHET SIMULATIONS TO ENHANCE STUDENTS' UNDERSTANDING OF WAVE CONCEPTS
Keywords:
PhET simulation, student knowledge, wave conceptsAbstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of PhET simulations to enhance students’ understanding of wave concepts at Cristal Private High School. A quantitative research approach was employed using a one-group pretest-posttest design with a sample of 40 11th grade Science and Technology students. The normality test yielded a p-value of 0.125, indicating that the data were normally distributed. The paired-samples t-test revealed a statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores (t = 12.8, p < 0.001). Furthermore, the mean score increased from 50.0 in the pretest to 82.5 in the posttest. These findings indicate that the use of PhET simulations in physics instruction significantly enhances students’ understanding of wave concepts.
